The functions of the Office of Economic Development shall include:

A. Expanding employment and business opportunities for Berkeley residents, entrepreneurs, and property owners with particular focus on increasing the participation of traditionally under-served populations and areas of the City;

B. Generating healthy business climate that maintains and enhances the environmental quality of the City while producing tax revenues to support civic goals;

C. Assisting in creating a more culturally rich and economically viable community by supporting the growth and responsive use of artistic and cultural resources among art organizations, artists, and businesses;

D. Ensuring equal opportunities for minorities, women, and disabled persons in these endeavors. (Ord. 6384-NS § 1 (part), 1997)
