It is the desire of the people of Berkeley that marijuana be legalized in California. In this context, the people of Berkeley fully support the present statewide efforts to further decriminalize and/or legalize marijuana. The City Council is directed to lobby in favor of the decriminalization and legalization of marijuana, and shall seek to ensure that the Berkeley Police Department undertakes similar lobbying.
