Food handler’s cards shall be issued by the Director of Public Health. As a condition to the issuance thereof, the director shall require the satisfactory completion of a food handler’s course given by the Berkeley Public Health Department and such physical and other tests and examinations as they may deem necessary for protection of public health. Food handler’s cards shall be valid for two years. The Director may issue temporary food handler’s cards, pending satisfactory completion of an approved course of instruction in food handling.
